Vaccine Update: Phase 1C Starts March 29; All Over 16 Starts April 12

March 20, 2021

On March 17, Mayor Lightfoot and Dr. Arwady announced that Chicago will move to Phase 1C of the vaccination distribution on Monday, March 29. Under this phase, all essential workers - including property management professionals - and Chicagoans age 16-64 with underlying medical conditions will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Chicagoans that are currently eligible under Phase 1A and 1B, including healthcare workers, frontline essential workers and residents over the age of 65, will still be eligible.

For detailed definitions of who is eligible within these groups, and a list of eligible underlying conditions, visit Chicago.gov/COVIDVax and specifically the Vaccine Distribution Phases Page. Please be advised that, due to limited vaccine supply, most essential workers will be vaccinated in April and May. Additional information can be found on the COVID Vaccine Website and more details will be shared in the coming days to help essential workers begin obtaining the vaccine when Phase 1C begins on March 29.

On March 18, Governor Pritzker made two major announcements to allow for a faster return to our new normal. First, by introducing a Bridge Phase to the Restore Illinois Plan, a metrics-based approach that will have higher capacity limits and increased business operations before Illinois advances to Phase 5. Second, by expanding vaccine eligibility to all Illinois residents age 16 and older starting April 12. Learn more on the Governor's website.
