BOMA/Chicago Buildings to Light Up Blue and Red to Support Essential Workers and First Responders

April 24, 2020

BOMA/Chicago buildings are lighting up as part of a program to recognize those courageous workers serving and protecting all of us during this unprecedented pandemic. In both Chicago and around the world, healthcare, first responders, janitorial, engineering, security, property management personnel and many more, are on the front lines during this pandemic.

To honor these individuals, BOMA/Chicago will light up blue for essential workers April 25 through May 1 and light up red for first responders May 2 through May 5.

This effort is a part of BOMA/Chicago’s ongoing Illuminate Chicago program, which allows for the coordination of buildings lighting up for various civic and philanthropic causes of importance to BOMA/Chicago members.

“BOMA/Chicago and our member buildings have been promoting important causes championed by local civic and charitable groups for over a decade through our Illuminate Chicago program,” said Michael Cornicelli, Executive Vice President of BOMA/Chicago. We are proud to recognize and express our gratitude to the critical workers across our city - everyone from health care workers and first responders who are on the front lines to our building staffs who keep the lights on and ensure our business tenants can operate successfully day after day.”

Building members are reminded to follow our Lights Out Chicago campaign guidelines to turn out or lower lights at 11 p.m. to save migratory birds by reducing collisions.
