ComEd Smart Ideas Representatives update BOMA/Chicago Energy Committee about Waitlist

January 10, 2018

BOMA/Chicagoā€™s Energy Committee met with representatives from ComEd to clarify questions about the Smart Ideas waitlist. In July, ComEdannounced that all projects applying for Smart IdeasĀ® Standard or Custom incentives will be placed on a waitlist, due to the high volume of Program Year 8 (PY8) Pre-Approval Applications received. ComEd said that a waitlist for Standard/Custom incentives was necessary to ensure funding availability for approved projects, and all projects now require pre-approval.

ComEd explained that the wait list reserves the funding for projects and that 100% of funds are currently reserved for the current program year. However, since not all projects are likely to be completed, some of the reserved funds are expected to become available. Projects that are not funded this year must reapply in the next program year.

The waitlist only applies to Standard/Custom incentives. It does not affect other ComEd Energy Efficiency Program elements such as Assessments, Business Instant Lighting Discounts, Data Centers, New Construction Service, Optimization/Studies, Residential or Small Business Energy Savings.

ComEd will post updates on their Smart Ideas website or members can call (855) 433-2700 or by emailing SmartIdeasBiz@ComEd.com for more information.
