How It Works

Win the Raffle: One lucky ticketholder is selected after the raffle closes on August 21, 2026.

Pick Your Date: Choose a meaningful day through 2027 for your campaign.

Design Your Display: Work with BOMA/Chicago staff to create your lighting moment. Campaigns typically run 3–7 days. You can select up to 3 colors. On select buildings, simple shapes or patterns (hearts, etc.) may also be possible.

City-Wide Visibility: BOMA/Chicago will announce the winning lighting campaign on its official program calendar, highlighting the date and what’s being celebrated for all to see.

Capture the Moment: Raffle includes a professional photoshoot with Barry Butler to give you the perfect, Instagram-worthy view of your lighting.

Prize Conditions and Selection Process

The raffle winner will be awarded the opportunity to design a skyline lighting campaign to celebrate an event or cause of their choice through 2027, subject to BOMA/Chicago approval.

Prize Conditions & Limitations

  • The requested lighting campaign must be submitted to and approved by BOMA/Chicago. Approval is subject to building availability, scheduling, feasibility, and appropriateness of the requested campaign, in BOMA/Chicago’s sole discretion.
  •  We are open to your creative ideas, but remember that this is a non-profit fundraiser intended to promote civic pride, creativity, and enjoyment of Chicago’s skyline. BOMA/Chicago retains the right to veto any campaign ideas that do not reflect that spirit—this is not the place for political statements or controversial messages. The following types of campaigns are expressly prohibited:
    • For-profit, religious, political, or commercial causes.
    • Embassies, consulates, visiting dignitaries, or holidays celebrated in other countries.
    • Conferences or expos held in the Chicagoland area, even if organized by a non-profit association.
  • We will help you design a campaign that buildings are likely to participate in, but neither BOMA/Chicago or the BOMA/Chicago Foundation guarantee that any specific building(s) will participate or illuminate on behalf of the winner’s campaign. The prize winner will NOT receive contact information for individual buildings.
  • Lighting dates, duration (must be 3–7 days), and number of participating buildings are not guaranteed.
  • The winning lighting request might overlap with other approved Illuminate Chicago requests during the same period, and BOMA/Chicago reserves time for pre-approved major holidays and causes. BOMA/Chicago staff will work with you to develop a lighting campaign that minimizes this possibility.
  • This is a unique opportunity that is not commercially available and has no price. No cash equivalent or alternative prize will be substituted.
  • No refunds will be issued.
  • The BOMA/Chicago Foundation does not own or control Chicago’s buildings, and they participate in BOMA/Chicago’s skyline lighting campaigns voluntarily. We know several iconic buildings will participate and expect many others will as well, but the raffle winner may not get their first choice of lighting campaign or dates.
  • You must be at least 18 years old and a legal resident of Illinois to purchase a raffle ticket.
  • The odds of winning the prize depend on the total number of raffle tickets sold. You may purchase as many tickets as you like to increase your chances of success, but participation does not guarantee a win.
  • Raffle ticket purchases are NOT tax deductible.
  • BOMA/Chicago staff and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate in the raffle.

Winner Selection & Next Steps

Around August 21, 2026, a winning ticket will be drawn at random under the supervision of an independent third-party administrator or auditor. Backup winners may also be selected at that time. The winning ticketholder can work with BOMA/Chicago to have a campaign featured on the Illuminate Chicago-approved lighting calendar at an agreed upon date through 2027.

BOMA/Chicago will contact the winning ticketholder after the drawing date, using the contact information submitted with the raffle entry. The selected winner has 14 days to respond to the notice of selection before being declared non-responsive. Once contacted by BOMA/Chicago, the responsive winning entrant will request their desired date through 2027 with Illuminate Chicago lighting campaign by sharing:

  • The name and a brief description of the requested campaign;
  • Some ideal dates (3 to 7 days) you would like to have your campaign featured;
  • The desired color(s) you would like displayed in support of your campaign;
  • If applicable, any desired shapes you would like displayed in support of your campaign; and
  • If applicable, a website related to the desired campaign.

BOMA/Chicago staff will reasonably work with the winning ticketholder to develop a lighting campaign and timeline that follows the program rules, achieves the ticketholder’s goals, and is likely to receive robust participation from skyline buildings.

If a winning ticketholder is declared unresponsive or cannot come to agreement on an approvable lighting campaign within an additional 14 days, the BOMA/Chicago Foundation may declare the drawn ticket ineligible and move on to the ticketholders drawn as backups. The BOMA/Chicago Foundation reserves the right to draw additional backup winners as it deems necessary to conclude the raffle and award the prize.

This raffle is conducted under State of Illinois and City of Chicago laws that govern non-profit raffle licensing and administration. Proceeds from raffle ticket sales will support the BOMA/Chicago Foundation’s charitable purposes.
