BOMA/Chicago Submits Gas Incentive Proposal to ICC

BOMA/Chicago submitted a legislative incentive proposal to the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) through the Future of Gas Workshop process.

The proposal outlines a new incentive to help large buildings reduce energy use and emissions in a cost-effective, practical way. Under ICC oversight, gas and electric utilities would be required to design programs to lower long-term costs, replace outdated equipment, and support electrification when feasible for the building. The proposal also requires gas and electric utilities to create alternative financing sources for these investments.

More than 70 proposals were submitted through this ICC process, and stakeholders will have an opportunity to discuss them in January. We will keep members updated as we learn more.

Special thanks to BOMA/Chicago members John Yoon, Wade Rodgers, Joell Juracka, and T.J. Brookover for their help in developing this proposal.
