Good News! New ComEd Carbon Credit

Building Members should look for a new carbon credit on your ComEd bill. This rebate will amount to $0.03087/kWh and should provide a significant reduction in your bill for the next year.

The credit will automatically appear on your ComEd bill as a line item called "Carbon-Free Energy Resource Adjustment" from June 1, 2022 through May 31, 2023. You do not need to apply for the credit.

The credit, supported by BOMA/Chicago, is a provision in the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA).

A provision within the CEJA guaranteed a level of revenue for the Exelon nuclear stations located in northern Illinois.  The provision directed that if market prices for power rise above the level set in the statute, Exelon must rebate that excess revenue to ComEd customers, resulting in this credit.
