BOMA/Chicago Intervenes in ComEd Filing

As required by the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act passed in 2021, ComEd filed its Beneficial Electrification plan with the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) on July 1.

The Beneficial Electrification plan focuses on incentives for electric vehicles and electric vehicle (EV) chargers. The plan outlines spending of $100M each year for five years. Programs outlined in the plan will start no later than January 1, 2023.

Members of the Energy and Sustainability Committee previously met with ComEd to discuss the proposed plan. After the plan was filed with the ICC, BOMA/Chicago filed as an intervenor to be a party to the case. Filing as an intervenor will allow BOMA/Chicago to argue in front of the ICC for incentive funding to support electrification efforts in downtown commercial office buildings, including EV chargers in building garages.
