Since 2014, buildings over 50,000 sf have been reporting their energy consumption to the City of Chicago via ENERGY STAR to comply with the Energy Benchmarking Ordinance. But have you heard of the City of Chicago Energy Rating System? Starting this year, Chicago is enforcing the first citywide publicly posted energy rating for each building. Both the benchmarking ordinance and rating system use ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager as their main tool. What may be worrisome is the update to Portfolio Manager that occurred in August 2018, leading to dropped scores and affecting future certification for multiple commercial buildings. Fear not.
Looking for a way to improve your score? Buildings can pursue energy efficient strategies such as Monitoring-Based Commissioning (MBCx), Retro-Commissioning and energy audits which may be partially or fully subsidized by the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program. Taking advantage of these strategies could lead to an increased ENERGY STAR score and an increased City of Chicago Energy Rating…a win all around!
By attending this seminar, attendees will learn about:
- Benchmarking using ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager and the recent updates
- The details of the new City of Chicago Energy Rating System
- How to improve the ENERGY STAR and City of Chicago Energy Rating
