Enhanced RPA/FMA Required Course: High-Performance Sustainable Building Principles

High-Performance Sustainability (Principles) is one of three required courses needed to earn the BOMI-HP enhanced designation. The other two required courses are High-Performance Sustainability (Investments) and High-Performance Sustainability (Practices).

This class will be held over two weeks in 2017 on October 23, 24, 25, 30 and November 1 from 5:30 - 9:00 p.m. at 115 South LaSalle. The course will be instructed by Susan Hammer, JLL, and Michelle Winters, Goby. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

Course Description: High-Performance Sustainable Building Principles
High-Performance Sustainable Building Principles course provides a comprehensive overview of high-performance sustainable buildings and exposes learners to the critical components of sustainability where building systems and the ecosystem intersect. 

As an industry professional, you will gain insight into understanding and tackling building performance issues that impact local environmental issues and global climate change; integrating high-performance building standards and guidelines; identifying and overcoming the hurdles to achieving true high-performance; and attaining top-to-bottom organizational buy-in for sustainable building initiatives.

Key topic areas: definition of sustainability in the built environment • justifications for high-performance initiatives • market dynamics • resource management concepts • benchmarking value and standards for design review • building interiors and enclosure overviews (IAQ, resource management, facades, and roofs) • integrated systems and commissioning concepts (HVAC, lighting, and electrical) • water and wastewater system considerations • renovation and tenant improvement guidelines • sustainable contracting and vendor management principles (maintenance and purchasing) • transportation • engagement (communications and marketing) • finance/portfolio considerations

High-Performance Course Fees
BOMA/Chicago Member: $1,200
Nonmember: $1,350
There is no enrollment fee for those who have already earned an RPA or FMA
Enrollment Fee: $125 (one-time fee if you have never enrolled in an RPA or FMA designation program)

Exam Information
Each student enrolled in designation courses will have six months from the course registration date to schedule and complete the course exam at the specified computer testing center.  More information will be provided with registration materials or you can visit www.bomi.org.
