Emergency Preparedness
Emergency Preparedness
BOMA/Chicago is at the forefront of emergency preparedness planning and communications within the City of Chicago. BOMA/Chicago's Emergency Preparedness Committee develops standards and situational practice sessions for property managers to ensure their tenants, staff and buildings are safe in an emergency or natural disaster. Now is the time to revisit preparedness plans.
Preparedness is essential for property professionals as they strive to protect tenants, buildings and business operations against a variety of threats. A well thought out, regularly reviewed and practiced emergency preparedness plan is the best defense against any emergencies.

BOMA/Chicago’s Emergency Preparedness Committee and Security Committee presented the second annual Tabletop Exercise on Wednesday October 28, 2009.
This year’s program titled Till Help Arrives-The First Five Minutes was a fast-paced and thought-provoking exercise for building operators. The exercise covered three scenarios with a focus on the initial response by building personnel. Fire, workplace violence, and building shutdown were covered. Representatives from emergency agencies discussed what they look for when they arrive so that building personnel can plan and react accordingly. Industry leaders shared their personal stories of how they deal with life threatening situations.
